Scope

Full-text early European books from 1450–1700.

Early European Books builds upon and complements EEBO (Early English Books Online) by providing access to almost 25,000 works printed in Europe before 1701. It offers full-colour, high-resolution (400 ppi) facsimile images scanned directly from the original printed sources. Each item in the collection is captured in its entirety, complete with its binding, edges, endpapers, blank pages, and any loose inserts.

Content includes collections from the following libraries:

  • Det Kongelige Bibliotek (Royal Library, Copenhagen)
  • Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze (National Central Library of Florence, Italy)
  • Koninklijke Bibliotheek (National Library of the Netherlands)
  • The Wellcome Library, London
  • Bibliothèque nationale de France (National Library of France)
